Class 11 Entrepreneurship Project guidelines

Dear students,
Entrepreneurship projects are highly scoring, interesting and fun to work on but initially (especially at class XI level) you might get little confused about which project to choose and how to start with it, what to include and what not to include. The CBSE BOARD does issue guidelines as regards to the projects and topics and those guidelines are to be keenly followed. Apart from that do keep in constant touch with your mentor/ guide/ facilitator/ teacher who surely be helping you out with valuable instructions, tips, and suggestions.

To make your work even easier I shall be discussing in this blog a few points as regards to the drafting of the project which I hope will be of help to you in the long run.

I am sure by now you already know that your subject is divided into two parts - Theory ( 70 marks) and Practical ( 30marks). This 30 marks is further broken down into Project 1( 10marks)+ Project 2 ( 10marks)+ Written (5marks)+ Viva ( 5 marks).

Viva-voce will primarily be based on your projects and you might be asked a number of questions to judge and ascertain your level of understanding and application and the authenticity of the projects. There isn't any specific syllabus for the viva and it is in most cases the discretion of the teacher.

Written usually includes one or two basic numerical based on your syllabus. Scoring 5 out of 5 is pretty easy.

In this blog, we shall be mainly concentrating on the project files, to be specific, how to efficiently draft the project.

At class 11level you will be asked to choose any 2 out of the 4 prescribed topics. In most cases, the school and teacher concerned will choose the topics in the best interest of the students.

The topics are:
1)Visit and report of DIC
2)Case Study
3)Learn to earn
4)Know thy state handicraft

In this blog, I have taken up the topic "LEARN TO EARN" which I feel is very relevant from the subjects point of view. Once the topic is decided, attention needs to be given to the following points.

1. Decide on the type of file. Usually, the shoelace file is used since extra sheets can be added or removed at ease. The spiral binding looks smart and professional but it is not as flexible as the shoelace file as regards to the addition or deletion of file pages. Channel file is another option though it is least preferred and even disallowed in certain cases.

2. Once you have decided on the type of project file now pay attention to the cover of the file. The file needs to be neatly covered and properly titled. Some schools prefer a neat and simple brown cover whereas other schools give you the liberty of decorating the file. Just keep in mind that the cover should be done in a manner which gives an idea content. Do not put unnecessary things or things which do not relate to your project. Your file cover should contain the following details- Name of the student, Class, and section, Roll no, Subject, Project topic, Academic year (If it is a class 12 file then the name of the student will not be mentioned and the Boards roll number should be specified).

3. For the Acknowledgement and Certificate, you can follow the format that has been given as a specimen in your textbook.

4. While writing the index make sure to put the following details- serial number, particulars/content, corresponding page number, do keep space for the teacher to put his/her signature, date and remarks (if any)

Once you are through with these general pages now you need to concentrate on the main body of your project and you should cover the following topics:

5.Introduction to your business and reason for choosing a particular business.

6. Products/ services that you are dealing with.

7. Manufacturing or trading procedure.

8. Sources of raw materials with a list of suppliers.

9. Target market and customers.

10. Capital to be invested, types and sources of funds.

11. Determination of cost, profit, and price of the product.

12. Conclusion as to why you think it is important to earn, how easy or difficult is it to earn, why should we acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of suppliers, intermediaries etc, why is the customer considered the king of the market.

13. You should end your project with the bibliography.
