Tips to score high in CBSE Accountancy Examination

Dear students,

The good thing about Accountancy is that it is one of the most scoring subjects. Yes, the paper is lengthy, involves a lot of calculations, is tricky and doesn't even allow you to use the calculator but with proper planning and practice, you can surely score high.

Here are a few tips to score high in class 12 Accountancy examination.

POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND ON THE DAY OF EXAMINATION

1. Utilize the 15 minutes reading time- Do ensure that you utilize the reading time at the optimum and make the best possible use of this opportunity before you start attempting the accountancy question paper.

2. Read the questions minutely- It is often seen that students answer without reading the question fully and correctly due to which they miss out the opportunity of scoring the full marks in those questions. Do not make this mistake.

3. Maintain your speed- Accountancy is a lengthy paper especially because it involves a lot of calculations which are to be manually done. Therefore it is very important to maintain speed from the very beginning.

4. Attempt all parts of a particular question serially- A certain question might have parts in that case attempt all the parts of that particular question together serial wise. In case you do not know the answer of a part or you are unsure of it, leave some space and try to attempt it later.

5. Pay attention to the presentation- Write legibly and present your answers neatly. Draw margins, draw a line after finishing each numerical. Do use a pencil and ruler for drawing lines, margins, etc.

6.  Show the calculations and workings clearly- Calculations are to be clearly shown. Please do understand that workings are an important part of your answer and workings do carry marks.

7. Do not jump/skip steps- CBSE follows stepwise marking pattern for checking so even if you are not getting the final answer or your Balance Sheet is not tallying then also you will get marks for the steps done correctly.

8. Do not spend too much time on a particular question-  It is pointless wasting too much time on a question that you are not being able to solve for some reason. You can come back to it later.

9. Pay attention to formats- Formats, headings, subheadings too carry marks, so draw the formats neatly. Do not forget to write Dr, Cr etc.

10. Balance Sheet- Questions based on the Share Capital in which you need to depict the items of the Balance Sheet of a Company with notes under the different heads has to be learned as per the new format of the Balance Sheet.

Apart from the above mentioned points, there are other points too which I am sure you all have already taken care of. Have a look at it.

11.  Prepare a solid study plan and follow it religiously- It doesn't really matter how many hours a day you are studying, what really matters is how serious you are and how well are you utilizing the study time. Take short intervals in between to energize yourself but do keep a watch on the on the frequency of the interval.

12. Stick to the syllabus as prescribed by NCERT- Focus on the NCERT textbook so as to ensure you do not wander out of the syllabus. Practice from reference books but ensure that you follow the NCERT textbook minutely.

13.Have complete knowledge of the exam pattern, weightage distribution, questioning trend- Go through the latest syllabus and know the latest exam pattern, marking scheme, weightage distribution, questioning trends of the subject to score high.

14. Focus more on the important chapters- If you want to score high you should revise and practice all the chapters but do focus more on important portions in Accountancy like Admission of partners, Share capital, Ratio analysis, Cash flow statement etc.

15. Practice and solve past years question papers and sample papers- Solving past years board papers and CBSE sample papers will help you a great deal in getting accustomed to the board's question pattern. It will also help you to assess the difficulty level and questioning trends.

Pay attention to these too

16. Always keep some time for revision.

17. Do not leave out any question. Attempt all.

18. Answer those questions first which you know very well and are confident of .
