Things to keep in mind while entering the examination centre

Dear students,

Your XII CBSE boards examination is just around the corner, to be precise for some of you it has even started ( in case you have mass media as your subject) and for the rest of you, it starts from the 2nd of March,2019. Yes, it's true that marks are not everything but there is also no denying the fact that this exam is one of the major exams that you shall be taking in your life and you cannot afford to mess it up. For some of you, this is probably the first boards exam you are appearing in(considering the CCE pattern which allowed you to exercise the option of appearing in school-based exam at class X level). Considering the fact that this is your first boards exam let me help you out with certain points which you should keep in mind while entering the examination center and writing the exam.

1. Reach the examination center on time- Avoid last moment entry to the center. You will probably not be allowed entry after 10am. Try to reach the center within 9.45am latest and preferably by 9.30am on the first day of the exam. Remember you will be frisked and you will have to find out the room allotted to you on the basis of your board's roll number which shall take a considerable amount of time. Avoid the last moment rush.

2. Avoid extra baggage- You just need to carry your admit card(original), a clear pouch containing pens, pencil, ruler, eraser etc and of course yourself. Do not unnecessarily carry extra things.

3. Calculators are a big no-no- Unfortunately, CBSE does not allow the use of calculators and therefore there is no point in carrying one.

4. Do not carry wallets, digital watches to the examination hall- Wrist watches shall be allowed provided they are the analog ones. Most of the centers will be having their own clocks which will be put up in the rooms for the convenience of the students.

5. Carry your school identity cards- It is compulsory for you all to carry the identity cards issued by your school. In case you have lost it or don't have it for reasons unknown please do let your school know about it so that the necessary arrangements can be made.

6. Use only blue ink for writing your answer- Do not use black ink for answering your paper, it is actually not allowed. Stick to blue pens, preferably  blue ballpoint pen. Use pencil and ruler for drawing margin and separating one answer from the other.

7. Stay away from all kinds of unfair means one can think of- I am sure you all are mature enough to understand that it's your life. One wrong step can literally put a black mark enough to destroy your career. This is one risk from which you will never gain

8. Stay focused and calm- You will not be able to put in the best of your efforts if you get tensed or nervous unnecessarily. It's definitely an important exam but that shouldn't make you nervous. Keep away from anxiety, stay calm, stay focused. Be confident.

9. Utilize the reading time intelligently- Your exams will start at 10.30am, you will be given the answer booklet at 10am and the question paper will be distributed at 10.15am which gives you 15 minutes of the reading time. Trust me this 15minutes is very important. Go through the question paper thoroughly and chalk out strategies in your mind how you shall be attempting and framing your answers.

10. Do not forget to carry the admit card-Carrying this is something you simply cannot afford to forget. Carry it to the center every day and ensure it's safety. Some students prefer getting their admit cards laminated though it is not compulsory. And yes do get your admit card xeroxed.

11. Last but not least, do not even think of taking your mobile phones to the examination hall- The use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited. Forget about using it, you are actually not even allowed to carry it with you. I do understand that you cannot think of a life without mobile phone, games and social media but it's high time you understand that your life doesn't revolve around the mobile phones and there are probably better and greater things to be done and achieved.

Hope you find these points useful. In case you do, do share it and spread the word. Leave your views in the comment section and do let me know what other topics you would want me to talk about.

Wishing you all the very best for your class XII boards examination and I am sure you all will come out with flying colours.

With love,
PDG ma'am.

    1. Yes, before you enter your examination hall/room you will be frisked and anything other than your admit card, clear pouch containing pens, pencils etc might not be allowed. In that case you will be asked to leave your belongings /bags/ extra things in the corridor or an alloted place. Hope the information was useful. All the best.
